MECENG 239 Robotic Locomotion

Student, Fall 2024

In my Robotic Locomotion class, my team and I are creating a wearable active-assist device for elderly people, stroke/accident victims, or disabled patients to stand up more easily. The device will assist them whilst standing up from a seated position and support them while standing, without interfering with their walking or being too heavy. My primary responsibility on the team is implementing the control system for the actuators, developing a model for when the user is standing/attempting to stand (i.e. creating the logic that governs what “mode” the system operates in), and integrating the electronics and sensor suite. That said, I also have input on the mechanical design and will continue to assist with it, as well as the fabrication of the project. This project is ongoing.
